The “Lord’s Day?” or…

“Superbowl Sunday?”

Ok, I am going to step on a few toes here. But, what day is tomorrow? It’s Feb 6th, 2011…also known as “Superbowl Sunday”. But, what happened to the LORD’S Day? Have we slowly forgotten Whose day it is, and how He would desire us to spend it?

Bible Helps for Little Children, Copyright 1934

If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:   Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. Isaiah 58:13-14

So which is it? Superbowl Sunday or The Lord’s Day. Food for thought…

  1. We are right there with you sister! The Lord’s Day is a day of rest in our home. But we are not football fans so this is not a temptation for us. “Remember the Sabbath and Keep it Holy”
