I Have A Voice- Guest Post

Today I’m participating in the Ultimate Blog Swap. You’ll find me posting over at  Impress Your Kids about teaching our children the art of hospitality and I’m excited to welcome Jasmine from Far Above Rubies to A Mothers Heritage:

There is no subject in the Bible that we should take more seriously than the mouth. It has the power to bring blessings or destruction – not only to our lives, but the lives of many others (Proverbs 18:21).
Our mouth gives expression to what we think, feel, and want, but it does not always communicate according to God’s word.
A woman can do a great deal of harm or a great deal of good according to the use she makes of her tongue.

5 Biblical Principles for Communication:

Lovingly
A woman can speak in various languages, and that with the greatest elegance and fluency, and it would neither profit nor delight if she is void of holy love. (1 Cor. 13).
Softly
A right cause is better pleaded with meekness than with passion. Peace in our home can be kept by soft words. When husbands, children, and friends are provoked, speak gently to them, and give them good words, and they will be pacified (Proverbs 15:1).
Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs
God’s women have reason to rejoice, and to sing for joy. We are to sing and to make melody in our hearts, not only with our voices, but with inward affection.  A thankful heart turns away a complaining spirit. Our inward joy shines forth outwardly in conduct and attitude promoting God’s glory.
We are appointed to sing psalms for the expression of our thankfulness to God (Eph 5:19).
Fountain of Life
If a woman is filled with God’s word, then she is able to inject others with life giving words. How industrious a woman is by communicating her goodness. A woman’s mouth, the outlet of her mind, is a well of life; it is a constant spring, quenching the thirst of the weary.
Submissively
Sara’s expression in calling her husband, Abraham, lord was one of submission and servitude; showing him reverence and acknowledging his superiority over her. And all this though she was declared a princess by God from heaven, by the change of her name (I Peter 3:6).

We must understand that true power and beauty comes in our willingness to submit to God-given authority. There is no greater feminine virtue than a woman who chooses to come under a husband in submission to a glorious and all knowing God.

Have a blessed day building up your families.
